SNAP food benefits have been suspended for the first time since the 1964 Food Stamp Act which created them, and many local families are facing an unexpected gap in food access. While we applaud the recent court rulings ordering the USDA to distribute November SNAP benefits in a timely fashion, it remains to be seen if, when, and to what extent the executive branch will comply.
By purchasing an Emergency SNAP Share above, you’ll provide fresh Siena Farms produce to Massachusetts families facing acute food insecurity, starting this week and going through Thanksgiving.
Each Emergency SNAP Share purchased will provide three half-bushel Classic Vegetable Farm Share boxes (or the equivalent in bulk produce) during the month of November, plus a Community Sponsored Gobble Box for the Thanksgiving holiday, all distributed through the YMCA of Greater Boston's hunger relief programs.
THANK YOU for helping to bridge this gap for recipient families relying on SNAP, while advocates across the country pressure the federal government to resume funding for this critical food assistance program. Your SNAP Share will be distributed regardless of whether and when SNAP funding is resumed.
