Q: Are Siena Farms' CSA Farm Shares refundable?
A: Our CSA Shares are not refundable, but they are easily transferable. Let us explain… If you realize at some point after purchasing your Farm Share that you’re not able to use it for some reason, or just change your mind, too many veggies, too few veggies, you’re moving — whatever it is! — we will still not be able to refund your purchase, even if it’s a totally reasonable request. This is because your investment in the farm will already be out in the fields, in the form of seeds, soil fertility, equipment, labor — you name it!
Q: How can I transfer my share?
A: If you are no longer able to use your share, we’ll encourage you to find a friend or neighbor to take over the membership for you. Another option is to transfer the value of your CSA to a Siena Farms’ Market Card, which you can use to shop with at our retail locations. Also, we're always happy to transfer the value of your current share to a different share, for example one of our Specialty Shares, or a farm share in a future season if that works better for you. Just reach out to us by email or phone and together we'll brainstorm a suitable option.
Meantime, please know that this blanket “no-refund policy” is an integral component of the CSA business model, for any farm that relies on CSA memberships for a substantial portion of their annual income. We thank you in advance for your understanding, and for the trust you place in the team here at Siena Farms when you join our CSA.
Q: How does the Monthly CSA Subscription option work?
A: Subscriptions are automatically renewed every four weeks, but you can cancel anytime by clicking the link you receive in the initial subscription order email. You can also pause your subscription and reschedule upcoming payments.
Once you have signed up for the monthly subscription option (and each time it’s renewed), we will send you an email to schedule your pickup or delivery dates for the upcoming four weeks. Of course if you have any questions at any time, please reach out to us by phone or email.
Q: Do I need a PayPal account to make a purchase on the Siena Farms website?
A: For now – yes. But we know this isn't ideal for customers who don't currently have a PayPal account, so we're working on improving that. Meantime, if you don't have a PayPal account but still want to join our CSA, simply call us at 978-261-5365 to make your purchase over the phone, or email us at office@sienafarms.com and we'll send you a link to make your purchase online with a credit or debit card. That link will still be processed through PayPal on our side, but will not require you to have a PayPal account. The one exception is for Monthly CSA Subscription purchases, for which you will need to checkout on our website using a PayPal account, in order to enable the recurring monthly subscription auto-payments. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work on making our checkout process more flexible and user friendly!
Q: Is there a way for me to view my past Farm Share orders?
A: Yes! You will get an emailed receipt for every order you submit; make sure to check your promotions tab in case it gets filtered there. Simply click the View Order button in your email to see your registration details.
Q: If I'd prefer to mail a check for my CSA registration rather than sign up online, is that an option?
A: Yes of course! Simply refer to our menu of CSA options for current pricing, and include a note as to which shares you're signing up for, and your preference for home delivery vs. pickup at one of our pickup sites listed here. If you're choosing home delivery, please add $10/week/share to cover that cost. You can make the check out to "Siena Farms, LLC" and mail to:
