Q: What can I expect in my weekly share?
A: Your weekly 1½ pounds of mushrooms will be a mix of regionally and organically cultivated mushrooms, and, when our foragers can get them for you from the woods of New England, wild-foraged ones.
Q: Who grows the cultivated mushrooms and where?
A: Fat Moon Farm in Westford, MA, grows beautiful Shiitakes as well as oyster mushrooms included in your share. They are cultivated indoors and outdoors and are of stunning quality, often harvested the same morning you receive them in your share.
During the 2017 growing season, we began our own mushroom production here at Siena Farms, sourcing our mycelium from Fungi Ally in Hadley, MA. As we learn more and expand our cultivation, we look forward to sharing our very own mushrooms with you in your weekly mushroom share!
Q: Who does the foraging and are they knowledgeable?
A: We work with several expert mushroom foragers across New England who provide us with carefully-foraged, exquisite wild mushrooms when available – such as Hen of the Woods, Chicken of the Woods, Black Trumpets, and Matsutake.Other questions?
