Siena Farms is proud to now offer Community Sponsored Farm Shares to increase equitable access to fresh, healthy vegetables in the Greater Boston area. We’re excited to partner with the YMCA of Greater Boston to support their mission of hunger relief by bringing our farm’s fresh vegetables to local families facing food insecurity – with your help.
How It Works
Your purchase of a Community Sponsored Farm Share will cover the cost of a farm share delivered directly to a family in Boston’s YMCA network this fall. The farm is discounting the price of the share by 20% to support this effort, and we’ve structured the following two options for you to consider. Your secure online purchase can be made below; we’ll take care of it from there.
Single-Season Farm Share
Single-Season Farm Shares will run the course of our upcoming quarterly CSA season (spring, summer, fall, or winter).
$300 — covers a FLEX Single-Season Farm Share (sponsors a family for 6 weeks)
$600 — covers a FULL Single-Season Farm Share (sponsors a family for 12 weeks)
Peak Season Farm Share
Peak Season Farm Shares will be distributed from the week of June 7th through the week of November 15th.
$560 — covers a FLEX Peak Season Farm Share (sponsors a family for 12 weeks)
$1120 — covers a FULL Peak Season Farm Share (sponsors a family for 24 weeks)
Four-Season Farm Share
Four-Season Farm Shares will be distributed all year long, from the week of March 15, 2021, through the week of February 28th, 2022.
$1120 — covers a FLEX Four-Season Farm Share (sponsors a family for 24 weeks)
$2240 — covers a FULL Four-Season Farm Share (sponsors a family for 48 weeks)
Recipients will receive the same box, size, quantity, and quality of vegetables as all of our CSA members on any given week. Shares will be safely distributed through YMCA’s center on Huntington Avenue in Boston.
This summer and fall alone, thanks to our community, we have been able to distribute over 100 boxes a week. We’re excited and grateful to continue on with this momentum into the coming year with all of your incredible support.
About the YMCA of Greater Boston
It has always been a core mission of the YMCA of Greater Boston to reduce food insecurity; given recent events, this is now more important than ever. The YMCA is helping to lead COVID-19 hunger prevention efforts by partnering with the City of Boston and Project Bread to operate over 50 youth meal sites throughout the city, in addition to distributing 3000+ grocery bags every week to vulnerable seniors and families. The YMCA relies on donations to achieve its essential mission, and is looking forward to offering their members high quality, farm-fresh vegetables thanks to your generous contribution.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss a customized sponsorship, please contact our office. Please note that the purchase of a Sponsored Farm Share will not be a tax-deductible donation – but will of course be so appreciated by the recipient family. Thank you, in advance, for considering this small but concrete way to make a dent in a giant, urgent and complex challenge.
