Q: What can I expect in my weekly Tomato Lover’s Share?
A: You will receive a ten-pound flat of Siena Farms’ tomatoes each week, which will contain a mix of tomato varieties from the four types we grow: heirlooms, beefsteaks, Romas, and cherry tomatoes. (Your expectations should be sky-high for our 2020 tomato crop, btw, after our having won FIRST PLACE for heirlooms in the 2019 Massachusetts Tomato Contest!)
Q: Assuming I’ve signed up for a Summer/Autumn/Peak Season Farm-Share, will I already be getting plenty of tomatoes in my weekly CSA box?
A:Yes and No; it depends how much you love tomatoes! And, it also depends on how well our tomato crop grows — tomatoes being THE most finicky, challenging crop we grow. On an average year, your seasonal vegetable farm share will contain a generous handful of tomatoes each week during tomato season, along with all your other summer veggies, but nowhere close to the additional quantity that the Tomato Lover’s Share will supply. We offer a limited number of Tomato Lover’s Shares each season — for our passionate tomato connoisseurs who just CAN’T get enough tomatoes during the short-but-oh-so-sweet New England tomato harvest season — but we cap our tomato membership early so as not to impact the supply of tomatoes going in to our weekly vegetable shares.
