Mushroom Lover's Share F.A.Q.
Q: What can I expect in my weekly share?
A: Your weekly 1½ pounds of mushrooms will be a mix of regionally and organically cultivated mushrooms, and, when our foragers can get them for you from the woods of New England, wild-foraged ones.
Q: Who grows the cultivated mushrooms and where?
A: New Hampshire Mushroom Company in North Conway, NH is a small farm that's dedicated to certified organic indoor mushroom production and superb quality. They grow a wide variety of oyster mushrooms year-round including King, Chestnut, Blue, Elm, and Bear's Head.
Fat Moon Farm in Westford, MA, grows beautiful Shiitakes as well as oyster mushrooms included in your share. They are cultivated indoors and outdoors and are of stunning quality, often harvested the same morning you receive them in your share.
Q: Who does the foraging and are they knowledgeable?
A: Eric Milligan and his team at New Hampshire Mushroom Company provide us with expertly-foraged, exquisite wild mushrooms when available – such as Hen of the Woods, Chicken of the Woods, Black Trumpets, and Matsutake.
